FROM DARKNESS TO LIGHT
JESUS CHRIST - Changed My Whole Life
My Name is Augustine Kar.
And this is my story.
I was born in Sierra Leone (West Africa). I grew up on a
farm, which was fun. Coming to America was a privilege
and a blessing. As time gone by I became friends with
many. Some were drug dealers, and gang members. Being
with these friends gave me the appetite and desire to do
and be the same. However eventually things began to
happen that weren't fun and showed me this wasn't what I
wanted for my life.Between the years of 2008 and 2011 my life began sinking
into major problems mainly with the laws of the state
(North Dakota) and country (United States). I found myself
being investigated for the above mentioned things. During
the investigation there was a time period I was isolated
from my family not being able to see or talk with them. In
those conditions my mind was going insane. I couldn't do
anything right and sleep was hard to come by. As I would
try to sleep to make time and days pass quickly I would
often wake up because of bad nightmares.It was during these difficult times I began a movement
towards a serious life change. I would call my grandmother
and talk with her about changing and what I wanted for my
life. She would encourage me with the Word of God by
telling me God loves me, but He is not pleased with the
things I was doing.On March 30, 2012 I was ordered by the State to appear
before the immigration Judge of the United States
Department of Justice. This hearing was to decide whether I
would be sent to jail for longer timing or deported back toSierra Leone. As I was awaiting the hearing I met people
from many places (Mexico, Jamaica, Africa, China, etc.).
Being in this situation awakened me to my need to
Knowing God. I started reading the Bible and attending
Bible studies that were held there. During the Bible studies
we would share things that we read in the Bible. One of the
things I read and shared was Genesis 1:1-4 (the Creation) In
the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And
the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was
upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved
upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be
light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was
good: and God divided the light from the darkness. I also
read about the creation of mankind in God's image Genesis
1:27-28 So God created man in his own image, in the image of
God created he him; male and female created he them. And
God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and
multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have
dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the
air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.Then in the next chapter of Genesis we find how we became
separated from God because of the sin that happened in
Genesis 2:16 that says: And the LORD God commanded the
man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely
eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou
shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof
thou shalt surely die.My reading of the Bible continued until my final hearing on
May 7, 2012 when I was released to return home. After
