Secular Radio, A Nominal Christian's
Ticket To Hell

A number of years ago the radio was a great
blessing and was used greatly of God to get the
gospel out. Today it is becoming less effective.
Few real gospel programs are still on the air on
our nation's larger stations, and most of these are
shackled and tied down with restrictions. It has
become necessary to write every word out before-
hand and submit it to a group of ungodly people in
charge of the broadcasting station who know
nothing concerning real, heart-felt salvation. Many
of these stations will not permit any preaching
against such sins as tobacco and liquor as their
biggest advertiser sells those products. Such are
the bands that hold many radio preachers down
today.
Few times we find articles in the daily paper
where someone has written to ask why we cannot
have more religious radio programs on Sunday.
Friend, you've written to the wrong place. The
people should write to the broadcasting station
and ask them; they are the ones who can answer
your question. In most cases, should the truth be
known, they do not want any religious programs
on the air at all; but they know they are not per-
mitted to take them all off at once.
Just check back over the years. Do you remem-
ber when your favorite religious broadcast was on
the air four or five times a week, then finally just
on Sunday? Later, part of that time was taken
away; then, finally, they were taken off the air alto-

gether. One after another was removed the same
way. About all that is left on the air nowadays is
some program where the teacher doesn't have
enough fire to keep his own congregation from
backsliding while he is teaching. There are few
exceptions.
Holy Ghost preachers cannot submit their ser-
mons a week ahead of time, written on a piece of
paper, and keep the glory on their message. A
radio preacher should be dynamic and his mes-
sage stirring. He should cry out against sin and
hypocrisy, modernism and worldliness. He should
not fear man or devils. All this is a trick of the devil
to let the Christian people of this nation uncon-
sciously fall into a dry form of religion without a
real experience. When these spiritual programs
are taken away, little by little you will accept the
liberal teaching and distress your soul.
You may wonder how they have substitutes.
They take away a real, spiritual program where the
preacher cried out against sin and replace it with a
general religious program where most of the ministers
of the city participate. Every day you have a differ-
ent view presented. Today it's the Catholic priest,
tomorrow the Jewish rabbi, the next day the spirit-
ualist preacher, then the New Evangelical, later a Nazarene,
then the Seventh Day Adventist, etc. Or they will
give time to some teacher who advocates a sin-
ning religion. He will tell you that you can live in
the backyard of hell all week and come to church
and play an angel on Sunday.
It might be well to mention some of the so-
called gospel singers which radio now presents.
They are presented to the listening audience as
gospel singers and appear on another program un-
der an assumed name singing boogiewoogie. How
many religious professors will listen half the night

to a barn dance and, if taken to task about it, will say, "They sing church songs on that program too"?
Brother, sister, that's like coffee--you sure drink a lot of water to get a little coffee. When you listen to a whole program of hoe-down to get to listen to a couple of church songs, there is no doubt that your experience is shallow, if not dried up.
Most Christian homes would be more spiritual if they did not have a radio in their home at all. Some professors of religion start their radio in the morning before they get out of bed and let it blast away all day until they go to bed at night. They say they can work better with it on. I suppose the Lord can reveal the deep secrets of His Word to them with that thing blasting all the silly love stories, the light jokes of comedians, and all the trash of hell into their ears. Brother, sister, what wonderful seasons of prayer you must have with that jazz music going full swing.
If you are a Christian, you do not permit your children to attend the theater; yet you permit them to listen to a lot of the same things on radio. The devil knows there are some folks he can't get into the theater because of their religion so he is going to bring the theater into their homes. If you are listening to all the trash on the air that is palmed off on the American public as entertainment, you will pay for the equipment to move the theater into your home. If you are not already backslidden, you will be then. No doubt you will be staying home from church and prayer meeting to see So-and-so.
We can hear some of you saying, "Not I." Listen, friend, if you are so worldly minded now that you listen to all the funny men of radio, you will soon be one of those who sit in front of that tele-

vision screen from the time you come from work till you go to bed. You say, "A good laugh won't harm anyone." That's right; neither will a good holy laugh. Perhaps you never heard of one like that where God comes on your soul and the Spirit fills and thrills you until you laugh for joy--the joy of the Lord, not for some funny face on radio.

Secular radio is a ticket to hell for many professors of religion who once had a nominal experience of salvation. They have listened to this and that on their radio until they have become ineffective in prayer. The Bible has become a dry Book to them. Church attendance is a form of duty, and testimony is just something to keep up their religious prestige. But God has gone, their hearts are empty; their spirits are critical and their souls are labeled for hell.

Friend, if this is your experience, we urge you to turn from your sin and ask God to forgive you. Get on your knees before God and turn your radio over into the hands of the Lord. There are some educational programs to which a Christian may listen. If you're a real Christian, we can assure you that you will not have that rattle box on all day and half the night. We urge you to talk to God about your radio and listen only to that which you know God can put His sanction upon.
