Competing with technically advance communication today ... multi-media. Be interesting. That intangible freshness that holds a man's attention [while] [the word is poured into his ear.] You can not help some one who is sleeping. We NEED to be speaking some thing people NEED to hear. B. We NEED to Speak with Authority. NOT make suggestions. [Proclaims 'thus saith the Lord'.] What does distinguish the preacher? ... The fact when he speaks from the Word of God ... "Whosoever he be that doth rebel against thy commandment, and will not hearken unto thy words in all that thou commandest him, he shall be put to death: only be strong and of a good courage." (Joshua 1:18) "only be strong and of a good courage." C. Rightly Using the Bible as a Source of Material Bible--Primary source. Advice: 1. Search for personal enlargement, personal discoveries. The Bible [needs to] speaks to us. 2. Search while your mind is fresh. Morning devotions--uncluttered mind. [One of the most important things you need to do is maintain personal devotions.] You Learn it, you Walk it, and then you Preach it. 3. Do word study. Words are containers for great truth. Study what is inside the word. 4. Soak up more than you will ever give out. [Giving] Tank and [Empty] Pipe illustration. [You ought to have more to preach than you can get through.] 5.
