agnostic (ag NOS tik):          (noun) Someone who believes that
                                             there can be no proof that God exists
                                             but doesn't deny the possibility that
                                             God exists.

He claims he became an agnostic as a child because he couldn't
accept the notion of a wrathful God.

pariah (puh RYE ah):           (noun) An outcast; a person rejected
                                             by society or his immediate circle.

In biblical times, a leper was a pariah.

myriad (MEER ee ud):        (adjective; noun) Many in number;
                                             literally means 10,000.

Saul has his thousands but David has his myriads.

euphemism (YOO fuh miz um):   (noun) a mild or indirect word or
                                                    phrase that is substituted for one
                                                    considered too harsh or indelicate.

"To meet one's Maker" is a euphemism for dying.

                                             pleasure is the chief aim of life and
                                             lives life that way.

Hedonists are strictly self-centered.
