WHAT IS

YOUR LIFE?

by Forrest L. Keener (CB)

It would be hard indeed to ask a more personal question. It should not be objectional though, because I'm not asking you to give me an answer, but rather to ask yourself and answer yourself, 'What is my life?'

MANY LIVES ARE FILLED WITH MISERY

You may say, my life is misery and heartache. This may be true because of drugs or drink. It may be true because of marital or family problems. It may be true because the world seems to be against you, or it may be true simple because your life has no real direction.
Many people watch their life meaninglessly move before them day after day feeling cheated and yes, even truly being cheated out of the joy of a worthwhile investment of the precious days of their lives. This is so tragic and equally unnecessary, for God has a worthwhile plan for every life, that is rooted and grounded in Him.

MANY LIVES SEEM TOTALLY CAREFREE

On the other hand, you may be saying my life is one big party. I do what I feel like, eat and drink what I want, have all the money I need, or something better, etc., etc. Many people are living like this and most of them know that deep down inside they are not really happy. There is a constant sick feeling in them crying, 'Is this all there is?' You might not admit to anyone else that you are not completely happy, but will you lie to yourself? All of the tragedies of life to wit: death, divorce, suicide, etc., are as common among the hilarious as among the deeply depressed.

Most of these 'carefree' lives are like the sputtering of the fuse on a fire-cracker. Then there is the bang, and all that is left is the scrap, of heartache, shock and disappointment. "Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment." - Ecclesiastes 11:9

WHAT IS YOUR LIFE?

This question is asked in the Bible in James 4:14 and 15. "(14)Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. (15)For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that." Not only is the question asked, it is answered. Your life is a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. It farther points out that the continuance of our life and all we do is dependent upon whether or not God chooses to permit it. God can let you live, or He can let you die. He can make you succeed or fail. He can alter as He chooses any area of your life. He not only has the perfect right but the complete ability to do so. Does it not then make sense to submit to Him and to see His will, guidance and blessing in your life?

LIFE IS A GREAT OPPORTUNIY

There are thousands of people whose lives have been gloriously changed and enriched, because they submitted them to God's will. This starts with receiving Jesus Christ as your Saviour and continues by your accepting Him day by day as Lord of your life. Satan will oppose this, but if

you will do it, your life can be very enjoy-
able and worthwhile, as well as eternal.
